Please join our SUNerji seminar given by Dr. Fatih Ömer İlday (UNAM) on , at in the entrance hall of SUNUM.
This will be not a regular seminar, but an instructive session where the basics of the related field and some valuable insights into collaboration opportunities and future research directions will be given.
Dr. F. Ömer İlday received the BS degree in theoretical physics from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1998. He took his PhD from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA, in 2003. After taking his PhD, he worked as a postdoc in Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2003 to 2005. His studies at MIT were supported by a Research Laboratory of Electronics Fellowship during his first year. In 2005, he was named a Research Scientist at MIT. In 2006, he joined Bilkent University Department of Physics as faculty member. In 2014, he was appointed to the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, also at Bilkent University, in addition his affiliation with physics. In 2014, he was promoted to position of associate professor. Dr. İlday graduated valedictorian of the Physics Department at Bogazici University. In 2003, he received the prestigious RLE Fellowship from MIT. In 2004, he received the Findlay Award from Cornell University. In 2006, he received the Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA-GEBIP). In 2011, he received the Teşvik Award from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK). In 2012, he received the Engin Arık Science Award from the Turkish Physical Society. In 2013, he received the prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant, which will run from June 1, 2014 till . In 2017, he received the Science Award of the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), which is the most prestigious award for science in Turkey.
