The project entitled "Optimization of a Hydrodynamic Cavitation-Assisted Thrombolysis Device and Determination of Its Preclinical Efficacy," submitted under the TÜSEB-AR-GE-01 funding call, has been supported. The project is led by Prof. Ali Koşar, a part-time researcher at SUNUM, while Assoc. Prof. Özlem Kutlu, a full-time researcher, and Dr. Morteza Ghorbani, a part-time researcher at SUNUM, serve as researchers on the project.

The project aims to optimize and validate the hydrodynamic cavitation-assisted catheter-directed thrombolysis (CA-CDT) device through in vivo animal experiments. Within the project, the effects of focused cavitation flows generated on an implantable PEEK-based catheter system on in vivo thrombus resolution and safety will be evaluated. Compared to conventional treatments for intravascular thrombus formation, this project has the potential to reduce the risk of bleeding and systemic side effects, shorten the treatment period, and lower costs. In addition, thanks to its targeted mode of action, it will contribute to the preservation of healthy tissues.

The project, which will last 36 months, also includes Prof. Dr. Ayşe Salihoğlu, Dr. Berk Arapi, and Dr. Tuğrul Elverdi from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Yonca Betil Kabak from Ondokuz Mayıs University, Dr. Gül Kozalak from Sabancı University FENS-EFSUN, and Süheyla Türkyılmaz from SUATT as researchers.
