Bringing the circular economy together with the maker movement: Experiences and insights from the Pop-Machina project

Aykut Coşkun from Koç University will be the guest at the Nano Open Webinar, which will be held on Zoom between 11.00 and 12.00 on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

Aykut Coşkun will talk about co-production and a community approach to the circular economy. Pop-Machina, the subject of the speech and also a Horizon 2020 project, aims to strengthen the connection between the maker movement and the circular economy, thus promoting environmental sustainability and creating socio-economic benefits in European cities. In this presentation, the experiences and insights gained in the project will be shared.

About Aykut Coşkun

Aykut Coşkun is a professor of design at Koç University Department of Media and Visual Arts, associate director of Koç University Arçelik Research Center for Creative Industries (KUAR), and coordinator of Koç University Design, Technology and Society Graduate Program. Having received his undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees from the Industrial Design Department of Middle East Technical University (METU), Coşkun joined Carnegie Mellon University Human-Computer Interaction Institute as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar in 2015. He worked as a user experience researcher at METU UTEST Product Usability Unit between 2011 and 2015. Coşkun works as a coordinator and researcher in different international (H2020) and national (TÜBİTAK) research projects. His current research interests include design for behavior change, design for sustainability, and design for well-being. The results of his research have been published in prestigious design journals such as Design Studies, International Journal of Design, The Design Journal, International Journal of HCI, and prestigious design conferences such as DIS, CHI and DRS.
