Nano-Biotechnologies for Innovative Therapeutic Approaches in Cancer

Prof. Devrim Gözüaçık, part-time researcher at SUNUM and member of Koç University Faculty of Medicine, will be the guest of the Nano Open Webinar to be held on Zoom on Wednesday, January 10, between 11.00 and 12.00.

Recently awarded the TÜBİTAK Science Award for his studies in the fields of Molecular Cell Biology and Disease Biology, Prof. Gözüaçık will talk about Nano-Biotechnologies for Innovative Therapeutic Approaches in Cancer. He will also discuss the NANOBIO4CAN Project, a mobility fellowship program for postdoctoral researchers coordinated by SUNUM within the scope of EU Horizon-MSCA-COFUND.

About Devrim Gözüaçık

Dr Gozuacik obtained his MD degree from Hacettepe School of Medicine. He received his MS degree of Biochemistry from Ecole Polytechnique and Paris-Sud University and his PhD degree of Cancer Cell Biology from Pasteur Institute and Necker Children’s Hospital Research Center in Paris. Then, he moved to Weizmann Institute of Science for his postdoctoral studies on Cancer and Cell Death Connections. After a 14 years of academic career in Sabanci University, he was appointed in Koç University School Of Medicine and KUTTAM as a Research Professor. Dr Gozuacik also serves as Board Member of the International Cell Death Society, and as an Affiliate Member of the AIM Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in the University of New Mexico, US.

Dr Gozuacik’s research focuses on the study of autophagy signaling and autophagy abnormalities in cancer stem cells, cancer-stroma interactions, tumor immunity, cancer metastasis and dormancy as well as in neurodegeneration.
