About Dr. Bilgi Güngör

Dr. Bilgi Güngör earned her Ph.D. in Immunology from Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey, in 2017. She pursued postdoctoral fellowships at Lund University in Sweden and the University of Bern in Switzerland. In April 2023, Dr. Güngör joined the Department of Basic and Translational Research Program at Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (iBG) as a junior group leader. At the immunomodulation Lab, her group endeavors to unravel the complexities of immune responses and develop novel immune-based strategies targeting a broad spectrum of diseases. Her current research focuses on the development of vaccines that elicit both systemic and tissue-specific immune responses, exploiting our understanding of tissue-resident memory T cells and their pivotal role in long-term immune protection.
