On June 4–5, 2026, a theoretical and hands-on training program was delivered by Dr. Büşra Tuğba Çamiç for participants from Borçelik on the use of the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) systems available at SUNUM.
During the training, participants were introduced to the principles of SEM imaging, electron beam–sample interactions, image quality parameters, SE (Secondary Electron) and BSE (Backscattered Electron) detectors, EDS analytical methods, and the fundamental principles of the EBSD technique. In addition, practical sessions covered sample preparation, image optimization, elemental analysis, elemental mapping, and EBSD data acquisition procedures. Hands-on exercises were also conducted to enable participants to gain practical experience and develop the skills required for the independent operation of the instruments. At the end of the program, certificates of participation were awarded to all participants.
