About Assoc. Prof. Begüm Yarar Kaplan

Assoc. Prof. Begüm Yarar Kaplan completed her undergraduate studies at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry in 2010. After completing her master's degree in Polymer Chemistry at the same university and department, she received her PhD degree from Sabancı University, Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 2017. During her PhD, she worked as a visiting researcher at Vanderbilt University (USA) in 2016. After her PhD, she worked as a researcher in 2017-2018 in the Graphene Flagship EU project, a sub-project of Sabancı University. Since 2018, she has been working as a researcher at Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM).

Dr. Yarar Kaplan has focused on mainly development of membrane, catalyst, electrodes for 'fuel cells', which is one of the application areas of clean energy production from hydrogen, and green hydrogen production by electrolyzers. She has also conducted research on the development of nanostructured materials for Li-ion batteries and supercapacitors.

Begüm Yarar Kaplan has authored more than 40 national and international articles and papers, and works as an executive, researcher and consultant in TÜBİTAK and EU funded projects.
