Every year on October 16th, World Food Day highlights the importance of creating a more sustainable and fair food system for everyone. On this special day, we aim to draw attention to projects that help protect our planet and secure our future.
Our OLIVEPACK project, led by SUNUM researcher Dr. Hayriye Ünal, focuses on one of the Mediterranean’s most valuable products—table olives. The project aims to extend the shelf life of low-salt table olives by developing bio-based, eco-friendly antimicrobial packaging materials, thereby reducing food waste.
With the awareness raised by World Food Day, we continue to develop projects that contribute to sustainability.
