Surface Modification of Graphene Oxide

Home > News > Surface Modification of Graphene Oxide

Graphene, which is called the "wonder material" in science, has gained extensive attention since it has amazing electrical, mechanical and thermal properties. For this reason, the usage area of graphene is expanding every day. To better integrate in different matrixes, surface modification plays an important role.

The speaker of Nano Open, on June 15, will be Dr. Mina Namvari, one of SUNUM's new researchers. Namvari will talk about the modification of graphene oxide towards wastewater treatment, fillers, and energy application.

To register for the Nano Open Webinar at 11:00 on June 15, 2022, otolab.sabanciuniv.edu

The webinar will be held in English.

About Dr. Mina Namvari

Dr. Mina Namvari after finishing her Bachelor’s in Chemistry at Tabriz University in 2002 in Tabriz, Iran, started Master’s in organic chemistry and worked on the synthesis of organosilyl molecules. However, she became fascinated with the emerging “Wonder Material”, graphene oxide, during her PhD. Her research was based on chemical modification of graphene oxide with organic molecules and preparation of the related magnetic nanocomposites for wastewater treatment. In 2015, she moved to China and continued research in developing graphene-polymer composites. She also worked in Czech Republic and South Korea before joining SUNUM where she carried out research on graphene-based single-atom catalysts for energy application and self-cleaning surfaces, respectively.
